Heroes

RIP Stephen Hawking. I’ve already seen a bunch of people write about how important he was in their lives. Same here. A Brief History of Time has been one of my most prized possessions for a long time; it helped change my attitude about the world and how exciting it is to be alive when I needed it most as a kid. It’s pretty hard to wrap our heads around how so much of the beauty of being human was embodied by one person…

When children ask for books to read or people to learn about, he has to be near the top of the list. I don’t believe there’s such thing as a book that’s too hard or too mature for a young person. They learn the most and discover the things that will eventually get them up in the morning when we leave them to their own devices, to get lost in other galaxies. I’m so happy knowing there are thousands of kids who will grow up with Stephen Hawking’s story as a source of inspiration.
